Conventional medicine is often focused on diagnosing and treating disease, while functional medicine aims to get to the root cause of symptoms and disease and finds opportunities to optimize health. In conventional practices, you can feel like just a number. But at Functionally Well you are heard, known, and deeply cared for. Your personalized health optimization and satisfaction is the #1 priority.

No. Some patients come because they have persistent symptoms or a health concern they want to investigate, while others feel well and want to be proactive about prevention and optimizing their health. The goal is to optimize your health so that your body is at its highest functional level to achieve whatever you want it to-whether that is pregnancy, an athletic event, or being able to enjoy your grandchildren.

Yes. When appropriate, medications can be an important part of a comprehensive approach to health optimization. I may prescribe medications when they support your individual health goals and are within the scope of your care with us. The focus, however, is on health optimization and identifying opportunities to improve your overall health, rather than replacing your primary care provider or specialist for ongoing management of chronic medical conditions.

Yes. I provide individualized menopause care, including prescription hormone therapy, when appropriate, as a part of a comprehensive whole-body approach to thriving in the menopausal transition instead of just surviving.
-
No. I encourage patients to maintain an established relationship with their primary care provider and any necessary specialists. When appropriate and with your permission, I can work alongside your existing healthcare team to provide a more comprehensive approach to your health. Think of functional medicine as an additional layer of personalized care—not a replacement for your primary care team.

No. Functionally Well is intentionally designed as a cash-pay practice so I can provide a more personalized, comprehensive approach to your health. Many of the things that make functional medicine different—longer visits, extensive health history, detailed laboratory interpretation, personalized nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, and ongoing health optimization—is not well covered by insurance. By choosing a cash-pay model, I am able to focus on you and your health goals, rather than allowing insurance limitations to determine the amount of time we can spend together or the diagnostic testing you have access to.

All appointments are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform designed to protect the privacy and confidentiality of your health information. Virtual appointments allow you to receive personalized functional medicine care from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Virtual visits make it easier to prioritize your health without the time, travel, or inconvenience of traditional office visits. Whether you're at home, on your lunch break at the office, waiting in the carpool line, or simply have a busy schedule, your care can fit more seamlessly into your life.

Every person is different. Many patients notice changes relatively quickly, while other health goals require more time and consistency. In many cases, we are reversing disease processes that have been developing over many years or even decades, so a commitment to consistency over time is where optimal health becomes achievable.
